The Costa del Sol is considered to be the most affluent Costa in Spain and is renowned for its year round climate boasting 320 days of sunshine per year. The climate makes it a haven for thousands of golfers during the months of October to May with over 50 quality courses located between Nerja in the east to Sottogrande in the west.
The main area responsible for the reputation of the Costa del Sol's affluent society is Marbella and in particular Puerto Banus. This is the marina with boats of the rich and famous costing in excess of ¡ê50 million where almost every other car is either a Ferrari or Lamborghini. This is a must to visit at least once during your stay with the worlds finest brands on offer in many of the exclusive boutiques and some of the finest restaurants in Spain offering every type of cuisine you could ever wish for.
The Costa del Sol is home to some of the world's finest hotel chains and spas and I have featured 2 I have personally visited many times and offer outstanding value for money all within a short drive of Marbella. Whilst the area offers the very best in fine dining and leisure activities it is also possible to enjoy a holiday in the Costa del sol on a reasonable budget with many fine restaurants offering excellent value for money off the beaten track.
Atalaya Park Golf and Spa (Official rating 4 star)
Located midway between Marbella and Estepona the hotel is ideally situated on the beach and just a 5 minutes drive to Puerto Banus. The hotel has 475 bedrooms, 33 suites and 53 family rooms and is set in 50,000 square metres of sub tropical gardens.
The hotel offers unrivalled leisure facilities with 2 18 hole championship golf course, 9 tennis courts 1 full size grass football pitch, fully equipped gym and spa with indoor pool. The concept at the hotel is once you have checked in all the facilities are free to use with reduced green fees for both golf courses. During summer the hotel offers a fantastic kids club with full entertainment and the piano bar has live music until the early hours every night. The rooms are all furnished to a good standard and include Air conditioning, Sat TV, Safe,minibar and spacious terrace. Food is served in 3 restaurants and you can enjoy a drink in any of the 3 bars. The hotel is highly recommended especially for holidaymakers looking for activities and sports facilities.
Hotel Guadalpin Banus ( Official rating 5 Star )
As the name suggests the hotel is located a couple of minutes stroll along the beach to the marina at Puerto Banus. The hotel has 181 rooms many of which are junior suites with the entire top floor offering penthouse suites complete with roof top sun terrace and private Jacuzzi. The hotel is situated on the beach with fantastic views across to Africa and offers the very best accommodation in the area. Rooms have plasma TVs, full hi fi systems, individual temperature controlled air conditioning/heating and a mini bar. The hotel offers a fantastic buffet restaurant and superb a la carte restaurant offering some of the areas finest cuisine.
The hotel has a superb conference facility which can accommodate up to 400 delegates and after a hard day on the beach what better way to relax than to visit the indoor spa which offers an indoor pool and various treatments in 1200 metres of luxury.
Amazingly the hotel rates start from just ¡ê30 per person per night including breakfast and this hotel is a fantastic choice for a 5 star stay at 3 star prices.
The area really does have hotels for every taste and budget but these 2 offer something for everyone at the most attractive prices in the best locations so I hope you get the opportunity to visit at least 1 in the near future.
