Fear of Flying - Claustrophobia

If you have a fear of flying it may be because you have a phobia called claustrophobia. It is the fear of enclosed or small spaces that make you feel trapped. Claustrophobia is one of the main reasons most people are scared of flying in airplanes, helicopters, and other flying vehicles.

Phobias are a form of anxiety disorders that result in a fear of certain things or places. If you have another type of anxiety it may be the cause of your phobia. For example, I suffered from social anxiety which lead to my phobia of public places -- but I cured myself!

Claustrophobia relates to flying because you may feel trapped in the plane. The planes body can be small and you may feel trapped because you have no way of getting out of it. If you feel this way then it's important that you know you are not alone and that there are cures. It's estimated that about 47% of fliers have some sort of flying anxiety -- that's almost half of the people on a plane!

You don't have to let your phobia stop you from doing the things you want to do. Maybe you want to see the world, visit family that live far away, or just need a vacation away from home -- you should be able to do what you wan without a fear or phobia stopping you!

If you aren't sure whether or not you suffer from claustrophobia or if this is the cause of your fear of flying... I have made a list of common symptoms that claustrophobia causes:

- sweating
- nausea
- accelerated breath
- fainting
- feeling light-headed
- shaking
- hyperventilation

Claustrophobia is usually caused by a past experience. This could include situations like being stuck in an elevator or having a panic attack and finding a need to escape but having no way to. Situations like these can be very stressful and may cause different types of phobias. Being closed in may cause them to panic or feel a loss of breath, especially when they think back to their memory of the first time it happened.

There are a lot of treatment methods for claustrophobia and the fear of flying, but they can be quite costly. If you're short of money, don't let that stop you from finding the help you need! There are online products to help with your fear of flying and anxiety!
